He was formally in the bands ''Käsi'', as the vocalist & ''The Candles Burning Blue'', as the drummer. In 1999, he founded Sinisthra with Markku Mäkinen under the name Evergreen. He performs both harsh and clean vocals, a contrast to the traditional heavy metal and punk rock stylish high-pitched voice of former Amorphis singer Pasi Koskinen.
